Research Interests
The first part of my research has been to develop a method that quantifies molecular perturbations between groups at the pathway level. Unlike studying gene expression data at the single gene level, pathway analysis allows for greater biological insight into what is truly occurring in an individual with a particular disease and better directs treatment for the individual. I am extending the idea of pathways analysis into the study of cancer dynamics, focusing on modeling pathways alterations in the initiation and progression of cancer. I have been working on pathway models of progression in prostate cancer, melanoma, and colorectal cancer and begun to identify pathways associated with the diseases that can potentially act as new therapeutic targets.
