Q1: I have a 1D gel band from a mouse cell line. How much will it cost to identify the proteins?
A1:
| In-gel Digestion | $40 |
| LC/MS/MS analysis (gel band - medium gradient) | $180 |
| First pass database search (included) | $0 |
| Total Cost | $220 |
Note: if absolute quantitation is desired (fmol per protein present), a surcharge of $150 is required for this data processing step.
Q2: I have two immunoprecipitates, and I want to know what proteins differentiate the samples. How much will this cost?
A2: The researcher is looking for gross differences between these samples, thus this analysis does not require rigorous quantitation to differentiate the samples. A single LC - MSE run will be performed for each sample.
| Digestion (x2) | $80 |
| Gel-free, Label-free Sample Differentiation (test & control) | $600 |
| First pass database search (included) | $0 |
| Total Cost | $680 |
Q3: I am looking for subtle differences in protein expression in a cell line as a function of drug treatment. I am not sure what proteins will be affected. How much will this cost?
A3: To insure accurate quantitation by statistically accounting for analytical variability, it is recommended that each sample be analyzed in triplicate (technical replicates of LC/MS/MS).
| Digestion (x2) | $80 |
| Gel-free, Label-free Sample Differentiation (test & control) | $1500 |
| First pass database search (included) | $0 |
| Total Cost | $1580 |
Note: if absolute quantitation is desired (fmol per protein present), a surcharge of $150 is required for this data processing step.
To statistically account for biological and analytical variability, it is recommended that three biological replicates (each test and control) be analyzed, with three technical replicates of each biological replicate. This cost would be:
| Digestion (x6) | $240 |
| Gel-free, Label-free Sample Differentiation (test & control) | $4500 |
| First pass database search (included) | $0 |
| Total Cost | $4740 |
Q4: The species of interest to my study is not in the databases currently mounted. How can I appropriately process my data?
A4:
| Custom Database setup for MASCOT or Identity (one-time fee) | $50 |
